Our Journey Begins: Building Bohemian Homes

From Zero to Three Houses in One Year

Bohemian Homes was born out of an unexpected twist of fate in the spring of 2020, right as the pandemic reshaped the world. Our adventure travel business, Bohemia Adventures, came to a sudden halt with global lockdowns, but instead of stepping back, we decided to dive headfirst into a new dream—building Bohemian Homes.

What started as a 3,000 m² plot of land, wild and overgrown like an untamed forest, soon became our passion project. Armed with little more than determination and a shared vision, my husband Ash and I rolled up our sleeves and got to work. Ash, originally from the Himalayas, didn’t speak a word of Czech, and I was six months pregnant, with absolutely no experience in construction. It was just the two of us and our dream.

Against all odds, and with no developers in sight, we built not just one, but three beautiful homes within that first year. What began as a challenge during uncertain times soon transformed into a rewarding journey that brought our vision of Bohemian Homes to life.

The Heart of the Project: Family, Friends, and Neighbors

  How It All Started ?

Our journey wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our incredible family, friends, and neighbors. From lending us golden advice to opening up their fully equipped garages, they were our lifeline. At the start of this project, all we had was a wheelbarrow and one shovel—yet with their help, we were able to build something truly special.

“The idea to create a peaceful retreat offering comfort, privacy, and connection to nature was born shortly after my husband and I met in India,” says Vladka. We envisioned a sanctuary for guests seeking serenity, nestled at the edge of the forest.

Blending East and West: A Unique Retreat

Our travels and experiences abroad shaped our vision. Inspired by our shared experiences and the desire to combine the best of East and West, we realized there was nothing like Bohemian Homes in the Czech Republic. After living abroad for over 15 years and travelling extensively, we knew exactly what we wanted to create. Our vision was clear: a retreat that blended traditional wooden architecture with modern design, large glass windows, and a deep connection to nature.

Modular Design Meets Nature

The Dubldom Partnership: Building Homes with Heart

When we first encountered Dubldom and their offer of modular wooden homes, it was a clear match for our vision. Their expertise in crafting high-quality, sustainable homes allowed us to create something special in Bohemian Homes. Since then, all of our houses have been built by Dubldom, each sharing a common style yet shaped by our own interior specifications to create a unique feel in every space.

Bringing the Buddha Home to Life

Our first house, the Buddha Home, was a 75 m² modern retreat, including a spacious terrace that invites guests to relax and take in the stunning surroundings. In just six months, it was built, and within four days, it was assembled on-site. The speed and quality of the process still amaze us to this day.

Designed for Every Season, Perfect for Every Guest

Raised on piers and fully insulated, the Buddha Home, like all our properties, is designed for year-round comfort. From the fireplaces to the cozy interiors, we worked closely with Dubldom to ensure each home has its own character, making our guests feel like they’ve found a true home in nature.

Crafting More Than Just Homes

Hands-On Passion: Creating a Unique Experience

While Dubldom remains our trusted partner for building the modular homes, every other aspect of Bohemian Homes has been shaped by our own hands. From the initial earthwork to the intricate landscaping and garden design, we personally oversaw every detail. Even this website is our creation, reflecting the same care and dedication that went into building each home.

A True Family Effort

I took charge of coordinating with suppliers, managing logistics, and often becoming the main transporter of materials. Meanwhile, Ash, with his background in mechanical and software engineering, embraced the physical challenge. He’s worn his work gloves for over two years, fully immersing himself in bringing Bohemian Homes to life.

A Labor of Love

Every corner of Bohemian Homes reflects the personal touch and dedication we’ve poured into it. It’s not just a retreat—it’s the result of countless hours of hands-on work, creativity, and passion.

In the spring of 2021, after spending nearly six months in Buddha House with our baby Mauri, we opened our doors to our first guests. Their joy and appreciation fueled our motivation to keep enhancing the guest experience. Shortly after, in September 2021, we added the Romantic Getaway, a cozy retreat for two, and by November, we welcomed guests to the Shiva Home—each designed to offer comfort amidst nature’s beauty.

Fast forward to the summer of 2024, we built our largest and most luxurious retreat yet, the Dream House. Featuring an intimate private wellness area, the Dream House elevates our offerings, providing the ultimate space for relaxation and serenity.

A Global Touch and Expanding Wellness

Every home at Bohemian Homes is a reflection of our personal touch. I designed the interiors, while Ash brought the vision to life, ensuring that each space feels warm and inviting. The decorations are sourced from our travels around the world, with unique pieces from Bali, Colombia, Costa Rica, and India.

In late 2021, we expanded our wellness offerings by adding a custom-made wooden sauna with glass views and an outdoor whirlpool. We meticulously designed the wellness area to fit harmoniously into the landscape, providing guests with an enhanced experience.

New Beginnings: Our Growing Family and Future Vision

Our family has also grown, with the addition of our baby boy, Nico, in 2023. As we continue to evolve, so does our vision for Bohemian Homes. We are currently working on creating a Yoga and Ceremony Hall, providing a sacred space for spiritual retreats, yoga, and ceremonies. Additionally, we are developing an eco-farm with alpacas, sheep, and other animals, further connecting Bohemian Homes to nature. Along with these plans, we continue to expand our gardens, planting more trees and fruit-bearing plants to enrich the landscape.

Hello/Namaste/Ahoj!

We are Vladka, Ash, our sons Mauri and Nico, and our beloved Border Collie, Benji. Together, we are thrilled to welcome you to Bohemian Homes!

Vladka was born and raised in this beautiful region, and thanks to her adventurous spirit, she knows every hidden corner of the mountain countryside. After traveling the world for 10 years and living in places like Canada, Costa Rica, and Australia, she returned home with a wealth of experience from the travel industry.

During one of her travels through India, she met Ash.

Ash was born in the Himalayas but spent 12 years in the UK. Ash with his background in mechanical engineering, software, and IT industries was also on a soul-searching journey when he met Vladka. It was clear from the beginning that they were destined to be together the way their stories were unfolding.

They travelled through the world together and from Canada, and Peru to Europe, India, Asia, Australia and many places in between. The Bohemian Homes is the extension of their journey and they are incredibly honoured to welcome their guest in their home called Bohemian Homes.

A Fusion of Excitement and Mindfulness

Together, we bring a unique blend of life experiences. Vladka introduced Ash to snowboarding and downhill mountain biking, while Ash shared his world of mindfulness, meditation, and spirituality. These passions, combined with our skills, education, and love for nature, laid the foundation for what Bohemian Homes is today.

A Family-Run Retreat

What started as a dream is now a family-run retreat supported by our amazing family, neighbors, and friends. Together, we work tirelessly to ensure that every guest has an unforgettable experience. Our goal is to create a space where you can recharge and reconnect with nature.

We can’t wait to welcome you to Bohemian Homes and hope you’ll find peace, inspiration, and joy during your stay.
